Belltown, Seattle
I wander the neighborhood here in Belltown, not necessarily looking for something to paint but rather to take in the vibrant atmosphere a healthy walk delivers. Alleys always intrigue me. There is a mystery, a story, a treasure, and perhaps a painting to behold in these narrow backway passages. True to word, I glanced down an alley right off of 1 st Street on a leisurely mid-morning and found a waiting scene: a woman with a small dog, trees spilling over, a man walking, brick buildings, and more. This scene was complex to translate onto the canvas, but I was up to the challenge. I like my results. That glance is forever in the spatter of oil paint and available for the right person who walks any city street and basks in all the rich information alleys offer us…
